The Almshouses are unfurnished bungalows with the needs of older people in mind. The aim is to provide convenient and comfortable accommodation in a setting which allows residents to come and go as they please. Almshouses provide security and residents are encouraged to make friends. The Almshouses have a resident warden and an emergency call system in each unit which requires the residents to have their own telephone line.
The ten bungalows, four constructed a hundred years ago and 6 newer 1960s properties, all have one bedroom, a living room, kitchen and bathroom. The Trustees are responsible for external and internal repairs and decoration and the properties are updated as necessary. Major refurbishments are usually carried out on vacant properties.
The garden has been laid out for the use and benefit of all residents, each of whom is encouraged to cultivate the small flower bed adjacent to their Almshouse.
Unfortunately, dogs and cats are not permitted.
There are limited parking facilities on site at Woollams for residents and a parking bay in Flamsteadbury Lane is available for visitors.
